Despite the proximity of major roads, including the A43, La Tour-du-Pin is a pretty town that has retained its provincial charm. Administrative capital of the Nord-Isère region and sub-prefecture, the town looks eastwards towards the mountains and glacial lakes. A merchant town since the Middle Ages, the city (8,000 inhabitants) still enjoys a beautiful economic vitality. Walking through its pedestrian streets, one discovers a soul that smells of the land. To see: the Notre Dame de l'Assomption church (19th century) and its 16th century triptychs, the Maison des Dauphins (16th century) which has become an exhibition centre and the Halles (1826) which houses the tourist office.
