Charavines (1,900 inhabitants) is located on the southern shore of Lake Paladru. Originally mainly agricultural, the town has developed a strong tourist activity thanks to the attractions of the lake, which is of glacial origin, with particularly warm waters that are pleasant on sunny days. The Fure, which has its source in the lake, runs through the town. The public beach, composed of sand and small pebbles, is nearby. The numerous archeological discoveries made in the area and which were exhibited until 2018 in the Charavines museum have now been placed in the Lake Paladru Archeological Museum, a remarkable new feature that is a must-see
