The name of this commune comes from the small lords, "les Chaux". In the heart of the Bauges Regional Natural Park, the village and the Leschaux pass are a communication route between the Bauges, Annecy, Chambéry and Rumilly. The Semnoz can also be reached from the pass by a winding road that cyclists love to ride down for the view.
