The commune is home to a natural gem, the Combe Laval cirque, and a rich heritage, with the Chartreux and streetcar bridges and the Orthodox monastery of Saint-Antoine. But why the statue of a Bear in the center of the village? It was sculpted by Hervé Monpert de Combes in the 20th century. It is said that King Louis XI, during a hunting trip, found himself isolated from his men and was attacked by a bear, a species that still lived on the massif at the time. Two local woodcutters, hearing the cries, rushed to the king's aid and killed the animal. The bear was sculpted in memory of this episode.
