On the banks of the Rhône, in the heart of the Bas Bugey region, Saint-Vulbas is a dynamic commune, combining nature and activities with the Plaine de l'Ain Industrial Park partly on its territory and the Bugey nuclear power station. If we know well its industrial present, we know less that Saint-Vulbas offers a great ancient archaeological site. The town was an important site in Gallo-Roman times because of its location on the Rhône, which was used to transport stones from Seyssel to Lyon. The church houses the marble tomb of Saint Vulbas and a painting of the saint on horseback. The stone chapel of Marcilleux dates from the 12th century.
