Surrounded by 132 woods and 22 ponds, this commune, located 7 km from Les Herbiers, has preserved its agricultural character as well as the vestiges of its past dating from the 11th century. It is home to a 12th century church with remarkable Romanesque murals. It has a single nave covered with a wooden vault; a pointed arch marks the entrance to the ogive-vaulted choir. Also worth seeing is the castle built in the 1850s, it was rebuilt on the ruins of the previous fire during the Revolution. It was visited by the Duchess of Berry in 1828. The chapel of the Vieux-Château is listed in the Inventaire supplémentaire des Monuments historiques.
