Le Grand-Lucé is part of the historic province of Maine and is now part of the Le Mans catchment area. Rural, the commune is today populated with a little less than 2000 inhabitants. It is renowned for its castle and its domain, one of the largest in the Pays de la Loire. The magnificent 18th century building became a luxury hotel after it was bought by a wealthy individual, but unfortunately it is no longer open to visitors. The town, built around the estate, is worth a stop on the Place de la République, while waiting for the park to be reopened to the public one day
