Saint-Julien grows early vegetables, lamb's lettuce, leeks and the famous lily of the valley. Nantes is the#1 lily of the valley production area, accounting for 20% of sprigs sold in France. The vineyards offer Muscadet and Gros-Plant crus. The village of La Chebuette was the birthplace in 1860 of Clémence Lefeuvre, who invented the famous beurre blanc, the ideal accompaniment to Loire fish. The commune has preserved traces of its history in chapels, calvaries, manor houses and rural dwellings (barns, tobacco drying sheds), mills, bargemen's houses, Loire-side villas and wine estates.
