Lamontjoie has all the charms inherent to the villages of Albret. Nestled in the heart of a gentle countryside on the border of the Gers, this bastide was founded at the very end of the 13th century. It was an important stopover on the trade route between Agen and Condom. Backing onto a lake, the town center has preserved traces of its medieval past, starting with the arcades of the central square and the old houses, including the one known as the "consuls' house". The Languedoc church houses a superb listed baroque altarpiece and, preserved in a shrine, relics of Saint Louis (8 bones of the hand) which gave its name to the building.
