This land, rich in ore, probably originating from the eruption of the Roste peak, has been exploited since Antiquity, as the wells corresponding to the exploitation of the mines still testify on the site. This activity was able to develop thanks to the presence of beech forests. In addition to the charcoal makers, the forest provided a living for coopers and lumberjacks in the Middle Ages. The activity was transformed in the modern era and centered on the cloth factories. Renaissance houses still attest to this relative prosperity. At the same time, the village castle was greatly altered to the point of being a telling example of Renaissance architecture even today.
