Saint-Louis-Arzviller owes its reputation to the Plan incliné de Saint-Louis-Arzviller, a boat elevator replacing 17 locks on the Marne-Rhine canal. The village is very rural, surrounded by meadows and forests, offering calm and charm. Saint-Louis maintains its traditions, including the use of "platt", a dialect close to German. Walking trails offer splendid views over the canal valley. The former mirror factory has recently been converted to house a second-hand shop, a pottery depot, a wide selection of beers and the Plan incliné crystal glassworks, which offers demonstrations of crystal blowing.
