Clergoux is a charming small town of close to 400 souls, situated between the rivers of Du and the Dordogne, in the heart of the Etangs plateau. The municipality has more than water points, some of which have been designed for recreational activities, in the image of the Provost Pond beach one kilometre from the village. From a historical point of view, Clergoux, whose name comes from the Latin clericorum, means «the land belonging to the clergy». In the 1025 th century, the village had a strong castle and church, half of which were ceded by Lord Raoul de Clergoux to Tulle Abbey in. The provost was repeated until the Revolution. A century later, the church and the castle were occupied by monks who founded an independent provost until 1731 when it was then incorporated into Tulle. At the end of the th century, the village underwent total reconstruction after being burned, and it developed thanks to shops and craftsmen. The expansion of Clergoux was also facilitated by the arrival of the railway, an important event at the time, which enabled the town to be stimulated and the holding of a monthly fair at the beginning of the th century. Nowadays, tourism is the spearhead of this small municipality corrézienne, with its high cultural location, the castle of Sédières, owned by the General Council of the Corrèze since the 1960 s.
