This commune was born from the merger of Camps and Saint-Mathurin. Bathed by the River Cère, it is part of the Black Xaintrie (south of the Maronne), more wooded than the White Xaintrie (canton of Saint-Privat). Nearby, the Rocher du Peintre offers a picturesque landscape over the valley of the Cère, the river that winds between Quercy and Xaintrie. The village of Saint-Mathurin has preserved its 12th century Romanesque church with its apse in cul de four resting on a series of modillions. The richness of the place is due to its exceptional heritage: Auvergne barns, Quercy-style house with a Mansard-style slate roof, an oratory, and circular wells under the roof. To see: the Marian site of Belpeuch, where one of the oldest pilgrimages of the diocese of Tulle takes place.
