Saint-Hilaire-de-Lavit belongs to the very large communauté de communes des Cévennes au Mont Lozère, which comprises no fewer than nineteen communes, including Vialas, Sainte-Croix-Vallée-Française, Bassurels, Saint-Michel-de-Dèze, Le Pompidou, Ventalon-en-Cévennes and Moissac-Vallée-Française.
