In the center of a vast cirque of mountains and greenery, in the Gard, the village of Saint-Bonnet-de-Salendrinque, from the top of its promontory, has long watched over the Emerald Valley, and the age-old passage between the Cevennes and the Languedoc plain. It shelters in its heart a magnificent wash-house, typical of the small villages of the south of France. The village of Saint-Bonnet-de-Salendrinque was renamed, during the revolution, Mont-Bonnet. This village is also known for the famous Castellas castle, a 17th century monument that allowed the surveillance of the roads to Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort, which is located at the edge of the Cevennes.
