An ancient fortified village with a rural and wine-growing vocation, Laurens is known for its marble quarries of great purity still in activity. The small town, dominated by the imposing 12th century castle, has village houses with beautifully maintained facades, typical of the region. Laurens offers visitors some curiosities such as the war memorial of the Biterrois sculptor Injalbert and the monastic barn. A few kilometres away, the Château de Grézan, a former commandery of the Templars in the 12th century and an unusual little masterpiece with a fortified enclosure with a manual gate as its only opening, is today a tourist complex and a wine-producing estate.
