On the maritime border, situated between the hills of the Baden and the Serre, surrounded by a rich vineyard, the small village of Portel opens the door to the Corbières. Portel comes from the Latin portelus meaning "little gate", because of the narrow rocky opening through which the Berre river flows, spanned by the Tamaroque bridge, from the plain to the ponds. Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, olive groves flourish as far as the eye can see in this rich territory. You will succumb to these landscapes which are home to the culture of a renowned wine: the Rocbère. More than 150 winegrowers express their passion here, working nearly 11,000 hectares of vines.
