In the heart of the Hautes Corbières, Villerouge-Termenès is a fine example of medieval Corbières architecture. Coveted by the lords of Termes, it belonged to the archbishops of Narbonne. From the covered way it is possible to appreciate the extent of the landscape. In the village stands an imposing castle whose first traces date back to the 12th century. In the hall of the castle, an audiovisual exhibition relates the life of the last Perfect and of the bishopric of Narbonne. Notable vestiges are to be discovered: the Saint-Jean gate, the 12th century Pont-Vieux, the medieval garden, the Saint-Etienne church and its superb 16th century altarpiece.
