Puynormand is a very small commune of just over 300 souls. Full of charm, it is nestled between Saint-Seurin-sur-l'Isle and Francs. Traces dating back to the Neolithic period have been found there; flints from the Roman period. And it is a text dated 1274 which attests to the name that the commune bore at the time: Podo Normani, following the passage of the Vikings. The feudal castle of more than 4,000 m² that was once located in Puynormand was, unfortunately, dismantled under Louis XIII. Note: the point of intersection between the meridian of Greenwich and the 45th parallel north is on the town. Also a stele in homage to the horse Jappeloup.
