Saint-Augustin is a village with character, offering wonderful walks between narrow streets, Aubetin paths and forest edges. The 18th-century obelisk by Claude Nicolas Ledoux and the 13th-century chapel of Sainte-Aubierge, both listed as historic monuments, are also well worth a visit. Below the chapel, a washhouse and its spring or devotional fountain where, it is said, Saint Aubierge, third abbess of Faremoutiers in the 7th century, used to come to collect herself. Also not to be missed: the traditional apple festival, an opportunity to unearth a few treasures at the flea market or enjoy a few attractions in a bucolic setting.
