At the crossroads of important roads (particularly that of salt), near the cradle of the Counts of Nassau of Saarbrück and the Duke of Lorraine, Harskirchen and its region boast a remarkable architectural heritage. Harskirchen was a small rural, agricultural and marshy village before becoming in 1745 the capital of the Bailiwick of the Counts of Nassau Saarbrück after the division of the County of Sarrewerden. This was followed by a prosperous period during which Harskirchen rose to the rank of city, county capital and was 80% rebuilt, imposing buildings with homogeneous architecture as in the rue de Fénétrange. The aim was to welcome new civil servants and administrations with dignity. A remarkable Lutheran church dates from this period. An older Catholic church is also to be discovered. This village, which is now well representative of the deep humpbacked Alsace, enhances its heritage. We will not miss the visit of the old mill of Willer, still in operation. We have come a long way to buy good wheat flour here.Marina.
