This charming village is full of history! Fragments of Gallo-Roman vases and other artefacts have been found in Bonnefontaine, along the salt route. In addition to the two annexes of Neuweyershof and the Bonnefontaine estate, the village also boasted the now-defunct hamlet of Honkesen-Huntzen. Altwiller was deserted in the 15th century and rebuilt a little further away in 1559 by Huguenots, mainly from Lorraine. Partially destroyed again by the Croats in 1635, it was rebuilt and finally lived on unhindered. Don't miss its beautiful corn mill, mineral spring and 19th-century château.
