A rural village steeped in history, Villeconin is brimming with charm, starting with its beautiful 12th- and 15th-century Saint-Aubin church, which is unfortunately only open to the public during church services (ask at the town hall for details). It is particularly remarkable for its vaulting system, supported by eight heavy pillars. Other buildings in the village and its four surrounding hamlets are well worth a visit: the 14th-century Château de Villeconin, the Louis XIII-era Château de Saudreville and the ruins of Château de la Grange. The village takes its name from a certain Conain who is said to have lived here..
