Saint-Romain-de-Colbosc, literally, from the "fresh bocage", is a commune created in 1823 by the merger of the communes of Saint-Romain, Grosmesnil and Saint-Michel-du-Haisel. The latter was on the Gallo-Roman road linking Juliobona to Caracotinum. From the 13th century, Saint-Romain was an important city, being one of the three oldest religious deans of the Grand-Caux, and commercially a prosperous village. The organisation of the city's central square, the Carreau, a rectangular space typical of the large Cauchois villages, planted in its centre with halls intended for commercial exchanges, is proof of this. Saint-Romain-de-Colbosc remains today an important centre of the territory. Equipped with an aerodrome, people come from far away to taste its world-famous specialty: the black pudding in the local way, whose brotherhood of the Saint-Romain pudding has organized a highly popular competition every October since time immemorial and which can be found among the pork butchers of the central square! Hikers are not forgotten, around Saint-Romain-de-Colbosc, with the Porte Rouge circuit (10 km, 2h30), starting from the church.
