Perched on the north side of the St. Lawrence River Valley, a small tributary of La Lézarde, Saint-Martin-du-Manoir is a small, wealthy village that conceals pretty, quiet residences under its tall trees. A manor house with a dovecote, both built of ashlar and black flint, is located behind the church, whose Romanesque choir dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries. A local legend would have it that in the locality of the Grey Stone, a dolmen in fact, bones and a coin were found, illustrating the tragic end of a rogue knight who had sold his soul to the devil against the forced favours of his lord's wife.
