Lieurey would mean "Place of King". A king, once, reportedly stopped at Lieurey, hence the name. The village was first mentioned in 1076, in a sharing between Viscount Hugues and Bishop Jean d'Avranches. Lieurey is now famous for its herring fair, which takes place every November 11 th.
