Molain is a village of 120 inhabitants with a beautiful Comtois bell tower and some typical farmhouses. The commune is especially known for sheltering the Moidons caves discovered in the 1960s and opened to the public at the end of the 1980s. They attract many visitors every summer who come to see the "most beautiful stalactites of the Jura". A restaurant, picnic area and playground allow them to extend their visit pleasantly. Walkers appreciate the marked trails and their explanatory panels on the life of the forest. Other treasures discovered at the end of the 19th century include 60 prehistoric burials. These necropolises of the Bronze and Iron Ages, in the 6th and 5th centuries B.C., have enabled archaeologists to better understand the way of life of our distant ancestors. Objects collected from the burials were deposited in the Museum of National Antiquities in Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
