Villamblard is a delightful commune, in the middle of which stand the ruins of the 12th-century château de Barrière, transformed during the Renaissance. A fire destroyed the entire vast residence, and what remains are a square keep, a dwelling, a crenellated round tower and a chapel, which can be visited from mid-June to the end of September. In the village, you'll discover the original market hall with its trapezoidal footprint, and medieval houses with reused stones to be found in the buildings. A stopover in this pretty, well-restored village is a must to discover the local distillery, which works fruit to perfection.
