Tucked away in its verdant setting, the village of Urval is a well-kept secret. Arriving via the town hall, you are first greeted by the mill reach, in this picturesque village of barely ten houses! The imposing, fortified Romanesque church stands upright, guiding your steps to it. Capped by a bell tower worthy of a dungeon, pass through the portal with its beautifully scrolled voussoirs (as in the Sarlat cloister!) and explore its basilica floor plan. If the church is closed, a neighbor will have the key! At the end of a few steps, a treasure awaits you: a rare 14th-century "banal" (or seigneurial in the Middle Ages) oven. What a surprise!
