The old village is perched on a rocky promontory overlooking the plain and the sea. Built on a flat area, its belvedere offers a lovely view of the Etang de Biguglia, the coastal plain and the Marana lido. The old shale houses and the 17th-century baroque church of L'Annunziata are well worth a visit. Borgo is famous for having been the scene of two severe military defeats by France during the Corsican War of Independence: the Nationals, in December 1738, and Paoli's troops, in October 1768, inflicted heavy losses on the French troops.
