Champigny-sur-Veude is located on the edge of the Touraine region, on the road from Chinon to Châtellerault. The commune is nestled in a vast valley at the confluence of the Veude and the Mâble. The castle of Champigny-sur-Veude was built on the initiative of Louis de Bourbon, prince of La Roche-sur-Yon. Today, only the old outbuildings, the current "castle", and the Sainte-Chapelle remain because the castle was largely destroyed. The Sainte-Chapelle is one of the seven holy chapels that still exist today. It was built at the same time as the original castle and is richly decorated, notably with stained glass windows.
