An immersive journey to the heart of ancient Egypt from Bordeaux? It's possible with this virtual reality experience that takes us on a tour of the Pharaohs' pyramids. Put on your VR headset and follow your guides on this historical and entertaining discovery, to be enjoyed with family or friends. The settings are rigorously reconstructed and the data verified by a professor of Egyptology at Harvard University. This is a serious show!

It's a not-to-be-missed event for gourmets, attracting visitors from all over the region (20,000 for the last edition)! A festival of books, of course, but also a festival of the senses, with numerous workshops, conferences and tastings on offer throughout the weekend. Local producers' stands are also on hand, giving you the chance to discover a number of unusual specialities.

The combination of foie gras (60%) surrounded by fine pork stuffing and truffles (3%) is even tastier as it ages. Good news! Because the 2020 edition of this gastronomic event having been cancelled, 2021 will be an even better year for connoisseurs. The promotion of this product, which is several hundred years old and bears the name of the city, is ensured by the pâté brotherhood, in red and green costume. The annual competition is open to professionals from the Dordogne.

Having fallen in love with the island of Oléron, Géraldine and Denys decided to settle there before opening their art gallery, naming it after Pierre Loti's first novel. The two enthusiasts have brought together objects from French manufacturers in this traditional Oleron house. It's a great opportunity to stroll through this place dedicated to Art and everyday objects (tableware, accessories, lighting and textiles) chosen for their quality and aesthetic appeal. On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Bordeaux metropole is hosting the men's and women's soccer tournament in its capacity as "Collectivité Hôte". From July 24 to August 2, come to the Matmut Atlantique stadium to watch seven major matches, including the quarter-final matches. Get ready to thrill alongside these international champions! A number of the city's sports facilities have also been accredited to help athletes prepare for and compete in the tournament.

In the asparagus capital of the region, some thirty exhibitors liven up this regional festival that kicks off the season. Asparagus takes pride of place, along with flowers, strawberries, honeys and local meats.

The farmers' market includes a velouté meal. At the end of the afternoon, it's time for the World Bundling Championship. The rules of the game: each bundle must weigh 1 kg, be tied with 2 rubber bands, and none must be broken. The day ends with a giant asparagus omelette. Entertainment and bandas. Ideal for families.

Initiated in 2012, Musick à l'Avance promotes local bands and young talent. A selection of composers and performers are to be discovered at this popular, good-natured festival with open-air music evenings. A food truck will provide on-site catering, and local craft stalls will also be present. The Musick à l'Avance festival (a reference to the local waterway) combines all styles. And to keep the party going, the artists are ready to keep Casteljalousians dancing all night long!

The Quartier Moderne or young designers' weekend: two editions a year for over 10 years now: spring-summer in May and autumn-winter in December. It's Nouvelle-Aquitaine's designer brand show! Held at the Espace de l'Océan in La Chambre d'Amour, it brings together nearly 40 recognized and up-and-coming designers in various fields of fashion, accessories, cosmetics, decoration and art.... In addition to the stands, fun and recreational workshops are also on offer, as well as a food court. Gift ideas!

An initiative of the 4 Vents du Bouglonnais association and retired bakers. In 1960, Ivan, the last baker in the village to make wood-fired bread, closed up store, and the smell of freshly baked bread ceased to hang over Bouglon. In 2015, bread and heritage enthusiasts restored the village's communal oven, and since then, a bread festival has been held in Bouglon in early summer. On the program: bread-making and baking in the communal oven, a "auberge espagnole" at lunchtime, and the opportunity to bake your own dishes in the oven.

Saint-Martin-Sainte-Catherine is home to the "Rock en Marche" festival, a cultural event dedicated to music. The festival offers a varied program featuring local and national artists. This friendly music festival takes place every year on the banks of the Gartempe river. On the stages of La Souterraine and in other towns in the department, they make the public dream with a rich programme covering the world of jazz, but also gospel and gypsy music. A member of the very active Ciné Passion en Périgord network since 1986, Le Vox cinema is a Montignac institution. Eric, Franck and Marie Hélène keep this eclectic, cutting-edge cinema alive all year round. They leave no audience out with their selection, which includes films in VO, blockbusters and children's films, as well as mini-festivals, notably dedicated to short films, theme evenings and meetings. More than just a cinema, it's a place for cultural mediation and discovery.

Come and have a thrill at the beginning of the summer at the Noir Vézère Festival, which specialises in crime novels. You will meet local writers who will present their works and answer your questions, even the darkest! On the program, animations for all and dedications of about twenty authors, in a friendly atmosphere. Enough to fill your suitcase with Périgord thrillers to read on the beach or by the fire! In collaboration with the bookshop Le Maout.

^5th edition for this international music festival. Music at the source with the piano, the lute or the viola da gamba. Classical music in its purest expression, an opportunity to recharge your batteries in summer, discovering exceptional artists, in the most beautiful monuments of the Creuse heritage. The French Army Choir "opened the ball" last year, and at the time of publishing this guide, we are not yet aware of the program.

In July, the Corderie Royale in Rochefort turns into a festive and friendly dancefloor under the palm trees for an unforgettable weekend. For two days, Stereoparc plunges you into an imaginary universe dedicated to electronic music. An electro festival under the palm trees, to live with your teenagers! This festival can boast of having welcomed world-renowned artists such as Benni Bennassi, David Guetta or DJ Snake. Many animations are planned during the festival like (Ventrigliss, Bubblefoot).

Summer 2024 will see the château come alive:

- Cloak-and-dagger show with the Musketeers. From July 6 to 24, daily at 2.30pm (duration 30 minutes).

- Falconry show with birds of prey flying over the audience. From July 6 to 24 daily at 4.30pm, from July 25 to August 25 daily at 2.30pm

- Tournament of chivalry from July 25 to August 25 daily at 5.30pm (duration 40 minutes).

- Equestrian fire show, every Friday from July 26 to August 23 at 10.30pm.

Every year, Destination Agen celebrates Halloween, which has become one of the city's must-see events. On the afternoon of Thursday, October 31, children will have the opportunity to listen to tales in the spooky and singular atmosphere of a haunted house located in the medieval heart of the city of Agen. After the chills and shivers, the afternoon will continue with a mask-making workshop and a well-deserved snack.

For a week, Montignac vibrates to the rhythm of music and folklore from around the world. Shows and concerts are on the program, as are craft markets and exhibitions, notably in the Salle Jean Macé, which becomes a veritable treasure trove throughout the summer. Since 1981, groups and troupes from all over the world have been sharing their heritage at Montignac, along with some of the biggest names in contemporary music. In 2024, reggae star Yaniss Odua opens the festival.

The Woodrise Meetings in New Aquitaine present the actors of wood construction and wood at the heart of the cities of tomorrow in all its forms. Conferences, visits such as the residence of the CROUS in Pessac or the biomass heating Aubiers Le Lac, round tables, but also orientation race, exhibitions, educational day for the general public and professionals. The Woodrise Meetings are a collective and unifying action around a strong regional forestry-wood construction sector.

In this country, breeders are numerous and so are butchers. Because we love meat! The fête des boeufs gras is a popular event, with visitors flocking in early in the morning. The highlight of the day is at 10:30 a.m., when the fattened oxen are paraded through the town from the Ateliers de la Source, followed by the blessing of the oxen by Pépé Lescourège. The festival is enlivened by local bandas. At midday, you'll be treated to butcher's delicacies. On-site refreshments and numerous stalls (oysters, goat's cheese, honey, desserts). Better known by its acronym, the RIFE, puts the children of the world in the spotlight every summer, inviting numerous groups of young dancers, acrobats and musicians. Direction cultures, arts and popular traditions from here (regional ensembles) and elsewhere (Mexico, Ukraine, etc.). As a family, you will admire the presence of these budding artists, as well as their colourful costumes. An event that will undoubtedly arouse vocations... Refreshment bar, concerts.

An institution in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, this ecofriendly festival is dedicated to primitive peoples, contemporary and traditional world music: didgeridoo, beatbox, diphonic singing and more. This family-friendly festival is appreciated for its wide range of activities, including workshops, a baby teepee, a relaxation center, a dream market, conferences and a doggy center (with advice on dog training!). A committed event, it stands out for its handicap and no-alcohol approach. Catering, free camping.

A major artistic event, this painting and drawing festival was created in 1989 and has since brought together some 300 international artists. It's a prestigious competition (sponsored by Salon Violet and the magazine Univers des Arts), the first of its kind in France, for works created on the spot, with an ambient motif: the Marais Poitevin, Magné and its surrounding area. The works are exhibited on Sunday from 3pm, and submitted to the jury for judging.

In the former pottery kiln of Magné, a modest local workshop created in the early ^19th century and closed in 1980. The pottery, now converted into an art gallery, hosts a number of exhibitions of painting, sculpture, photography and digital art, among other local curiosities. A number of creative workshops are also on offer. 5,000 visitors pass through every year, from April to the end of October.

The first Monday of each month is the rendezvous of Lencloître and its surroundings: the fair. Halfway between Poitou and Touraine and close to the main roads, thanks to its priory and the fertile agricultural land of the Envigne valley, the town obtained the right to hold a fair from 1612. In the 14th century, the fair became a monthly event. Today, there is everything on the square: poultry, haberdashery, delicatessen, fruits and vegetables, clothes, shoes, cakes, plants... And at noon: calf's head with gribiche sauce or grilled eels!

The ritual has not changed since the Middle Ages. The cattle fair that made the town's reputation has become a not-to-be-missed event. Today, calves, cows, pigs and other animals have disappeared, but the Gençay fair attracts more than just its name. On Place du champ de foire, you'll find everything from clothes and poultry to tools and crafts... In and around Les Halles, it's all about the food. Mmmh, good produce, vegetables and local dishes. In any case, if there's one thing that's stayed with us, it's the great atmosphere!
