Read moreThis typical construction is the only half-timbered housing in Quebec and the oldest house in eastern Quebec. This house built in 1744 by Marie-Agnès Lepage, daughter of Lord Pierre Lepage of Rimouski, and her husband Basile Côté is the oldest house in eastern Quebec. The timbers give it a unique character, since this type of architecture, formerly commonly used, has become very rare because of Quebec's climatic conditions. Visitors will discover antique furniture (eighteenth and nineteenth centuries) and an exhibition of archeology and architecture.

The walls of 1693, the time adjustments and the halls of the permanent exhibition "Walking in its Steps" trace the history of the Charon Brothers and Marguerite of Youville, founder of the Congregation of the Gray Sisters. The visit of this "Maison de Charity", inhabited by the Mother of Youville and the Gray Sisters in 1747, is provided by the religious. The furniture at the time remained intact. The whole life of this "house" has been reconstituted. Visits are free, but donations are always welcome, especially since these exceptional women continue to help the most disadvantaged.
