Market that is part of the emblems of the historic district because of its silver dome in Montreal.
It is one of the emblems of the historic district, particularly because of its silver dome. Built between 1844 and 1852 according to William Footner's plans, it was inaugurated in January 1847 (the interior design was not completed until 1852). For a few weeks it housed the members of the Parliament of United Canada, then City Hall from 1852 to 1878. Nowadays, it is the headquarters of the Conseil des métiers d'art du Québec and is home to boutiques and restaurants, not to mention the various events and exhibitions that are organized there.
