Classified as a historic monument since 1976, Château Dufresne was built between 1915 and 1918 by brothers Oscar and Marius Dufresne. Its French Beaux-Arts architecture was directly inspired by the Petit Trianon in Versailles. Once home to Quebec's first Musée national d'art contemporain, the château is now a museum and historic heritage site featuring a permanent exhibition and interesting temporary exhibitions (see website). Guided tours on weekends at 1 p.m. - admission included in the Montreal Museum Pass.

The Château Dufresne, located in Montreal, is both a museum and a historic heritage site. It offers a unique opportunity to understand the influence of the Dufresne family's vision and actions on the development of Montreal, and in particular on the dynamics of the Eastern Townships. As you explore this exceptional site, you'll discover the most significant secular work by Italian-born artist Guido Nincheri, as well as decor and furnishings by Belgian painter Alfred Faniel. In addition to its exhibitions, the museum offers a variety of activities, including Marius' creative workshops, inspired by the collections and exhibitions. These workshops give children the opportunity to design their own greetings card. In the museum store, you'll find a range of accessories, books, stationery... A must for a rewarding discovery!
