MONT MÉGANTIC NATIONAL PARK
Parc national du Mont-Mégantic is home to an astronomy discovery center and 2 reception stations with equipment rental.
Parc national du Mont-Mégantic is located in the enchanting village of Notre-Dame-des-Bois - not to be confused with the town of Lac-Mégantic, some 50 km to the north-east of the park. It is made up of mountains, some of which reach over 1,000 metres in altitude, valleys, ridges and hills. These peaks are accessible by hiking and snowshoeing. You can see the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Maine, and the Green Mountains of Vermont. The presence of ASTROLab, the astronomy discovery center dedicated to the general public, allows you to combine activities on the ground with those in the stars (astrolab.qc.ca). August is the month of the Perseids, and many activities are organized at the ASTROLab. It's a great way to make discoveries.
There are two visitor centres at Parc national du Mont-Mégantic, in the Observatory sector and the Franceville sector. They also offer equipment rental. Check the website for seasonal opening hours.
