Stay : Zakynthos, Kefalonia and Ithaca in 10 days

Several combinations are possible to discover two different Ionian islands. You can, apart from the proposed itineraries, just combine the visit of Kefalonia and Ithaca, or Lefkada and Ithaca. Day 1: Zakynthos

Steps: Zakynthos

Welcome to Zakynthos (or Zante)! The island is accessible by plane or by boat. Arriving in its capital port, you will discover a city rebuilt after the earthquake and fire of 1953 in the same neoclassical style. Stroll along the huge port, between Solonos and Aghios Dyonisos squares. Most of the activity is concentrated near the docks, along the Strata Marina.

Day 2: The Bay of the Shipwreck

Steps: Volimes

Spend a day discovering the Bay of the Shipwreck, one of the most beautiful and famous beaches in Greece, as well as the blue caves. The beach with its sparkling white sand and beautiful turquoise waters is well worth a visit, even if it is crowded in summer! You can also see the beach from a promontory on the road between Volimes and Anafonitria

Places of interest :
NAVAGIO

Day 3: The north of the island

Steps: Volimes

30 kilometers west of Chora, spared by the earthquake, the pretty village of Volimes is divided between Ano Volimes and Kato Volimes, which have two churches from the 12th and 13th centuries. From there, you can explore the still relatively preserved west coast. Discover the monasteries of Saint George andAnafonitria.

Day 4: The south of the island

Steps: Keri

Another day can take you to the south of the island, especially to Gerakas beach where Caretta caretta turtles lay their eggs in summer. Cape Keri is also worth a visit. Perched on a hill, the village of Keri was relatively spared by the earthquake. In the evening, admire the sunsets on the pebble beach of Limni and the rocky islets of Mizithres, near the lighthouse.

Day 5: Argostoli and Kefalonia

Steps: Argostoli

From Aghios Nikolaos in Zakynthos, you can reach Kefalonia in about an hour and a half. You can start by discovering Argostoli. Its main square, with its pastry shops and restaurants, is very lively in the evening. After its avenues lined with palm trees, laurels and bougainvilleas, push on to the peninsula of Paliki. To enjoy the sea, go to the beach of Kalamia

Places of interest :
AGHIOS NIKOLAOS / PRESQU'ÎLE DE PALIKI

Day 6: A national park

Steps: Poros

For nature lovers, you can go to the heights of Mount Ainos. This small mountain range is the extension of the Pindus range which passes through Serbia and Albania. Its national park is full of rare species such as the Cephalonian fir and several orchids that are not very common on the slopes of this mountain

Places of interest :
PARC NATUREL DU MONT AINOS

Day 7: Sami

Steps: Sami

The area of Sami is also worth seeing. The lake of Melissani is illuminated by those few rays of sunlight that rush into the opening, depending on the time of day, offering a quite phantasmagorical spectacle. At the Drongarati caves, a long staircase leads to a superb underground room 44 m below ground called the Apotheosis room because of the beauty of its stalagmites and stalactites.

Day 8: The north of the island

Steps: Assos, Fiskardo

The north of the island is also well worth a day's excursion. Steps: Fiskardo

The port of Fiskardo is also the departure point for boats to the north ofIthaca. Magical. Welcome to the land where Penelope wove and rewove her work while waiting for her beloved Odysseus. Do not expect to find a grandiose site but you will bathe on the beaches of Tsirimbis, Paliokaravo, Loutsa, Aetos or Pisso Aetos
