Grocery store

1 review

Located in the center of Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort, this store offers a superb range of products from this region that oscillates between plains and mountains, between thyme and chestnuts. "Entre Thym et Châtaigne" is a direct sales outlet where some twenty producers come together to sell their produce directly to consumers. Each of them takes it in turns to run the store, and part of the money raised goes into an emergency fund in case one of the members' business is in danger.

MOULIN À HUILE THOMASSOT

Olive oil producer
5/5
1 review

Like any rare and quality product, Claire Thomassot's oil is worth it. You will need to go through the small roads of the Gard to arrive in the hamlet of Montèze. When the tar becomes earth and pebbles, you finally reach your goal. Hidden in a pine forest, Clare's mas could be a vision of paradise. The oil from the mill that occupies the ground floor is in any case a genuine nectar of the gods. This farmer's daughter is alone in extracting olive oil (even though the entire village takes part in the harvest), which is in 5 vintages: the PDO of Nîmes, Aglandau, Bouteillan, La and Sauzen (a local variety from centuries-old trees). But to have the chance to taste these oils that have won the 2012 award of excellence from the general agricultural competition in Paris, you will have to hurry: production runs within a few weeks! Clearly, Claire Thomassot's oil is really worth it.

BOULANGERIE SANILHACOISE

Bakery
5/5
1 review

Sanilhac is a charming village with a secret boot: a baker, Antoine, who loves his profession above all, who has almost forgotten knowledge, conviviality and a rare service. It is a bakery, as well as a pastry, a tea salon, a glacier, a small restoration and the rental of atvs and VTC. It occupies a long building completely renovated in front of the town hall square. The bright space has kept its beautiful stone stones and ceiling beams, several rooms and a large terrace. The specialty is the hand-shaped sanilhacoise wand in stone crushed rye flour. He participated with 5 other bakers in the Duchy of Uzès in the elaboration of the figatine, brioche to olive oil with candied figs and éclats of nougatine. The custard is the Tropézienne. By far, we are short for this brioche to the orange flower and to the sweet cream and parfumée custard. Passionate about his craft, Antoine will tell you about sacristains, fougasses, laminated, gâteaux cakes raspberry, apples cooked in the oven, apricot. It is inexhaustible on this issue.

If you don't have the time to explore the vineyards of the Rhône Valley, make a detour to this wine fair where François Cas, a sommelier by trade and a knowledgeable wine merchant who provides fine local cuisine, officiates. He has nurtured his passion and experience with starred chefs in France and elsewhere as far away as Uruguay and Canada. You can trust him, he knows what he sells and knows the estates and most of the winegrowers whose bottles fill his shop. Gallinacée is very pleased to offer you delicious fatty livers, high quality duck and poultry, kid, game, rabbit, fresh eggs and cooking products, which you will be telling us about news. We have tasted roasts fowl - to fall on the ground! -the roasts of breasts filled - to damn a saint! and we re-examine it. Frankly, try Le Gallinacée is to adopt it. Of course, the formula makes a bit of a cliché, but if everything is not perfect (we are not always fans of sausages for example and prices can be a little high), most products are good, even excellent and archi-fresh. A very good address to the Halles, which only serves AOC meat, Red Label or Organic label.

CHÂTEAU TERRE FORTE

Winery

Pierre Jauffret comes from several generations of winegrowers who have been working since 1856. In 2000, Château Terre Forte resolutely turned towards the future by practicing biodynamic viticulture. The twenty-hectare estate has several terroirs, mainly clay-limestone with deep, rounded pebbles. We like the Rouge, which has a "good picolability index", and for a biodynamic wine, it's well worth the detour in terms of quality/price. Don't forget to allow time for tasting.

Soccer leads to everything, even to the vineyard. In the field, Gilles Leclerc, a former ASSE defender (1998-2000) and - for those specialists who are interested - one of the architects of the Greens' rise to D1 in 1999. As the owner of the family wine estate in Saint-Victor-la-Coste, a picturesque village in the Gard between Nîmes and Avignon, the sporty entrepreneur manages his 30 hectares of vines, which are planted with Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan. The young winegrower fell in love with the Rhône region, its peaceful hillsides, its rocky, mineral soil, its scents of garrigue. His wines? Côtes du Rhône, of course, which he bottles himself. His fifth cuvée, he named it "La Cuvée Verte" in remembrance of his former colleagues of the "Sainté" certainly, but also in reference to the reasoned culture he practises on an estate where two thirds of the grapes are still harvested by hand.

New shops in the Gardoise capital, such as H (Tel.) m or Planet Saturn, shops in the coup, such as Jeans Center, an original chocolate maker and a variety of restaurants, including the Casino cafeteria that has always had many fans. In short, the gallery is worth a detour. On the large surface, Casino made very strong, with its curved shelving, which gives the feeling not to see the crowd but also has the disadvantage of losing when one is pressed, high quality products, fresh and varied in all areas of modern consumption. All the sweets and biscuits in the South of France have come to this shop. Besides the cure it is a real return in childhood that we offer the gourmet cure with its chocolates, caramel, nougats, calissons, madeleines, old in and other delicious sweets. Thanks to the products offered here, it is a little the taste of the holidays you bring to your home and that you can offer to your loved ones in nice boxes and other boxes, to be tasted without moderation. Your dentist will be happy!

Christophe, son of Roger Paradis, has taken over the adventure begun by his father. Located in a 16th-century farmhouse surrounded by garrigue, the Paradis mill produces an atypically fragrant AOC Nîmes olive oil. The olive varieties it crushes come exclusively from the local terroir. In addition to AOC olive oil, we also offer single-variety picholine, négrette, bouteillan, aglandau and old-fashioned oil. A guided tour is available by appointment from April to October to discover the secrets of the mill.

In Reunion, the grandfather sold small shortbread, then he bought a bakery-pastry shop. In 1977, the Friand de la Grande Motte was born, with a rapid development. In 1990 Jean-Yves, one of his two sons, set up Friand II in Grau-du-Roi. He died accidentally and it was his daughter Émilie, after an intensive apprenticeship, who took over the business in 2006. Émilie inherited from her grandfather and her father the rigour, the work and the same high standards. Everything is made on the spot: macaroons, chocolates, breads of all kinds, and a range of focaccia.

AU VIEUX PETRIN

Bakery

The car park on the right allows a quick stop before going to work. A small table and a few chairs make it possible to eat a coffee by enjoying a croissant or a brioche while watching the baker working behind his baker glass. " Nothing is more beautiful than the hands of a woman in flour "says a song by Claude Nougaro. And those of a man, then! ? The stall offers a variety of breads, including the famous bread of Beaucaire, renowned for its excellent conservation: the shepherds breed it in their transhumance. Beware, soon the Pompidou bakery will also open a grocery store in its premises!
