Things to see and do Epire

It is a striking little bastion of grey stones hung in the void. The very well marked path leads to this 15th century monastery which looks like a strange curiosity hanging from the cliff from where the view is breathtaking. If you go there in the early morning or early evening when the sun is still present, the moment is magical... On July 26, Saint Paraskevi's Day, it is the village festival, and it is from there that the procession starts.

Also located in the enceinte, the museum is in the mosque of Aslan Pacha. It exhibits traditional jewellery and costumes from different parts of the region, antique furniture, silverware, and the life and customs of the three major communities (Jewish, Christian and Turkish) who lived in Ioannina during the Turkish occupation period through traditional objects.

The island of Panaghia floats in the centre of the bay, just a few fathoms from the beach of Kryoneri and the seafront of Parga. You can swim there, but it's not safe for you to visit the Panaghia church in a shirt. You can always rent a boat boat from one of the beaches.

Chateau built in 1814 to control passages in the region. Ali Pasha's presence still haunts the places… a superb view of the Parga region and beautiful walls still well preserved.

Located in the centre of the city, in the Litharitsia park, the museum gathers objects from several sites in the region, such as Dodone, Vitsa, the oracle of the dead of the...... A see, stone and bone tools of the Paleolithic era as well as funeral stelas, signs and coins. In all this collection, we strongly recommend you to admire the small bars carved by the Romans and to deal with the oracle of Dodone. Translations are displayed beside each of them.

Located in the heart of the ancient citadel, the museum was built by the Greek army on the location of a former military hospital, built on the former seraglio of Ali Pasha. The museum is very well equipped and presents the discoveries made during the excavations, but also a very beautiful collection of icons, ceramics, coins…

Some beaches around the city: Kyani Akti at 2 km, Alonaki at 6 km, M 8 km, Psathaki 3 km, Skalidaki 5 km, Aghioi Apostoloi 7 km.

The excursion can be done in a day with a departure early in the morning. The beaches are worthy of the Caribbean…

There is also the possibility to visit Butrint in Albania (departure 7 h, return 20 h 15 for € 70), book early because this excursion is very requested, and seems absolutely sublime.
