It also houses works from the th and th centuries, from Mannerism to Fauvism and Contemporary Art, or charentais artists. In a typical eighteenth and nineteenth centuries house, the Gabarriers house presents an exhibition depicting the history of the Charente River, as well as the men of the river, as well as the timber trades, including the production of the templates with the display of ancient tools of calcareous carpenters and ship models sailing on the Charente. A whole program for a global vision, narrated in a playful way to easily grasp all aspects of life around the river and to keep alive the memories of Saint Simon's elders. This small museum - opened in 1998 - is located in the small village of Archingeay. Installed in the old school of the village, it allows a dive in the beginning of the ^XXth century. The scenes evoke the daily life of a housewife: enamelled coffee pots, cake moulds, scales, as well as curiosities, toys, fashion... The visit is both amusing and moving! Not to be missed after the tour: a magnificent collection of boxes (1880-1930).

The museum of the Archaeological and Historical Society of the Charente has existed since 1845 and has changed its place several times, it is now and since the post-war street of Montmoreau, in the house of Jean George who remains its residence at the Archaeological and Historical Society of the Charente. The collection is for most gifts and legacies, making it an atypical museum, as the Renaissance curiosity firms could be. You will find a beautiful collection of enamels, but also objects and remains of all the periods of which the statue of the goddess Epona found in Rouillac. Through loans made for exhibitions or museums, society contributes to the cultural dynamism of the department.

Really interesting this small village museum that seeks to revive life in the Poitou in the th century. Managed by volunteers who are concerned about the public, there are various thematic rooms. The first is reserved for caps (more than one hundred exhibition) and embroidery in the Poitou. Another represents a paysan peasant interior (the pelebois are the inhabitants of the corner called that at the time because surrounded by forest, they often'peel from wood '). There is also a traditional shopping basket, a laundry barn and its mannequins, a stable containing the tools and objects of rural and artisan life, a period classroom. For groups (from people), possibility to make a guided tour with tasting of regional products.

The museum presents in the former presbytery of the commune nine trades to the old as well as the corresponding tools, put into situation thanks to models: farmer, carpenter, charron, shoemaker, blacksmith, carpenter, résinier, sabotier and cooper. It is a success. And don't forget to climb on the floor, you'll find a nice pottery exhibition. For children, the course is punctuated by riddles to be resolved to access the Treasure trove of Métiers's trades.

This house is also known as the house of the Iles des Iles. Boat-style architecture is at least adequate, as there is a beautiful collection of banned fishing gear (linked to poaching) as well as various tools of yesteryear (nets, foënes, verveux, etc.). Also, an expo on the Charente River, a video projection on the relationship between the inhabitants of Saint-Groux and their river, an aquarium presenting local species. Please take a seat in a town hall which is open only on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning.
