Wine Cellar Wine House
4.6/5
15 reviews
Open - Close to 19h15

The Fagon cellar, which was picked up in 2002 by Domaine Henri Magnien, remains an unavoidable address and deserves the detour to Nights. A wholesale trader of wines, spirits and spirits, the hotel has a selection of very extensive wines, with nearly references, mainly Burgundy. As a companion to the orders of the cellar, François Magnien himself chooses from the owners-owners of the region the bottles that will be put on sale. The selection is varied and you will naturally find the wines of Domaine Henri Magnien de Gevrey-Chambertin. From 6 € to 50 €, the price range is interesting and allows all awards to offer a few quality designations. In addition to liqueurs and spirits, the Fagon cellar offers numerous Sicilian references, ranging from cruchon to gift format. Among them, fruit liqueurs (cassis, vine fishing) occupy a place of choice, as is marc or fine Burgundy.

This address is the meeting point of travellers but also bon vivants in search of charm and authenticity. Indeed, in addition of the few night stays you have here, you can also eat at the table d'hôte and buy very fine wines in the shop. Philippe Meyroux knows a great deal about wines. In fact, he is a master sommelier and worked at top-of-the-range restaurant. He now shares his knowledge and his advice in a more relaxed and personal setting. The menu is quite long and all the dishes are meticulously chosen. You will find white wines of Alsace, Burgundy, Loire, Savoy, Jura… But also red wines mostly from Burgundy. You should note some original wines from Italy and from Portugal. That's not all. There's something for all tastes with suggestions of very good German beers (45 varieties), creams, liqueurs, crémant and champagnes. Let Philippe and his wife guide you with your eyes closed. An address you should discover!

Closed - Opens in 28 minutes

The first vines of the Maison Jadot were planted in 1826, three generations of this family succeeded there. In 1984, Jadot became an American property but retained its Burgundian soul. Today, Maison Louis Jadot controls 220 hectares in Burgundy, including 80 in Beaujolais. Since the spring 2013, Maison Louis Jadot has been open to individuals. Its shop is installed in the north of Beaune, in the heart fermenting rooms. The architecture of the fermenting room of Rouges is impressive; it is reminiscent of a cathedral. That of the white, equally large, is more contemporary and contrasting sharply with the previous one. The long raising cave of a hundred metres, houses nearly 4,000 references. The tasting that closes this memorable visit allows you to discover the Louis Jadot wines. The tours are only in small groups; the shop is accessible without the visit.

Next to the Notre-Dame Basilica, the Maison Joseph Drouhin Oenotheque is located in the magnificent building of the former Parliament of Burgundy. This building, which dates back to the 12th century, is worth a visit and the marble plaque on the pediment speaks volumes about its historical past. Once through the airlock, you enter a sublime room where the stone columns support a vaulted ceiling, a luxury case for haute couture wines. The oenotheque is the showcase for the wines of a world-renowned estate. Founded in 1880, the estate is still run by the same family. The family is committed to perpetuating the tradition by ensuring each step of the production, from the work in the vineyard to the promotion and export. In short, this place is a sumptuous boutique where you can offer yourself one of the 90 Joseph Drouhin appellations, including some old vintages straight from the reserve. Here you can visit the historic cellars dating back to the 13th and 15th centuries that run under the city. Once you have had this unique experience, you can taste the wines of the estate. Passed down from generation to generation, Benoît Sordet, owner of Domaine Coste-Caumartin continues to keep this 13-hectare estate alive. Concerned about the environment and biodiversity, the estate has obtained the HVE (High Environmental Value) level 3 label, as of the 2019 vintage harvest. This distinction is a guarantee of quality work that allows the vine to flourish. We find among others Saint-Romain, Beaune1er Cru for the whites and in red of Pommard and Pommard 1er Cru of which "Le Clos des Boucherottes", Clos in monopoly. Very beautiful wines raised in oak barrels which develop all their quality in a superb vaulted cellar of the XVIIth century.

Myriam and Claude Dufour as well as their son Joachim have the experience and passion of the vineyard, the wink to the god of party and wine is a real message! The selections of the Cavon are rigorous, they are the fruit of the knowledge of wines, but also that of a faithful and permanent relationship with the best wine growers in the region. Here we have the assurance of finding beautiful products, nearly fifty domains are well represented, from the Bruno Clair Domain to that of the Romanée Conti, by the Domaine Arlaud or Jean-Yves Bizot. The list is long! A total of nearly references, village names with great wines, one of the most prestigious and complete selections of Burgundy. Often the wines offered are no longer available in the production areas. This is where the values of the Cavon de Bacchus express themselves: no speculation on prices. Of course, we will not taste these wines and the savvy amateur will understand it, as is the breakdown of stock in spite of all the inevitable vintages. Little more 2009, the shop was redécorée, stones and paintings to stay in the "spirit of wine".
