Créhen, from the Breton ker (village) and hen or Ehen (name of a character) comes from the dismemberment of the ancient primitive parish of Ploubalay. Its history is linked, literally and figuratively, to that of a stronghold of Brittany: the Old Castle, also known as Castle Guildo or Castle Gilles de Bretagne. This monument exposes its ruins overlooking the town and the estuary of the river Arguenon, which flows from Plancoët and Saint-Lormel into the Channel at the port of Guildo.
