Here's another pleasant village in the Kaiser massif, dominated by the jagged silhouette of the Wilder Kaiser. Located halfway between Innsbruck and Salzburg, Ellmau has long been an important trading center. As long ago as 1616, the town had its own post office (today's Hotel Alte Post). Ellmau is the gateway to the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental ski area (279 kilometers of slopes and 90 lifts!). A perfect destination for everyone, from winter sports enthusiasts to families with children looking for great toboggan runs! In summer, it's a hiker's paradise.
