This Austrian community near the Bavarian border has a population of around 3,000. Its highest point is 1,986 meters above sea level. The locality stretches along the shores of its mountain lake, whose water quality and summer temperatures make for great swimming. The same applies to the nearby Pfrillsee and Längsee lakes. The name Thiersee dates back to 1224. The town was part of Bavaria until 1504. Thiersee's economy revolves mainly around agriculture and tourism linked to the magnificent natural surroundings. A tradition of theater around the Passion of the Christ.
