Just 5 km from the German border, Kufstein now has a population of 19,000. A typically Tyrolean town, it has grown up on the banks of the River Inn at the foot of its imposing medieval fortress, standing proudly on its rocky outcrop. Don't miss a visit to the Heldenorgel, the world's largest open-air organ, which can be heard at midday, a tour of the fortress and its museum to learn more about the city's history, or a stroll through the medieval quarters, including the famous Römerhofgasse with its central arcade. In summer and winter alike, Kufstein offers a wide range of sporting and cultural activities for the whole family.
