254 inhabitants. It is one of the main gateways to the Montserrat Mountain Natural Park. Until 1982, Marganell was named Santa Cecília de Montserrat, named after the Romanesque church of the same name planted in the heart of the Montserrat massif. It is one of Marganel's main attractions, particularly because it offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of the region, opening onto the entire Geopark territory. The Cal Pujolet cheese factory, where the famous Mató de Montserrat is made, is also worth a visit.Geographically, the Serra del Florí connects the rugged landscape of Montserrat with the village of Marganell, located in the lowest part of the land. Along the way, traces of the geological transition from the emerging areas of the former Montserrat delta to the most remote parts of the delta in the sea, to the typical rocks of the seabed, the marls. We will follow Route 8 signposted in the Montserrat Mountain Natural Park to learn more about these formations.
