This national park covers nearly 20,000 hectares and rises to an altitude of more than 1,500 m. It is crossed by the tortuous road No. 50. In the interior are the villages of Paneveggio, Passo Rolle and San Martino di Castrazzo. It is a ski resort in winter and a hiking base in summer, with three visitor centres in Paneveggio, San Martino and Villa Welsperg, and an ethnographic trail with the Vanoi Ecomuseum. The northern part is covered by 2,700 hectares of forest, the south-eastern part is none other than the Pale di San Martino mountain range, while the western part is part of the porphyritic section of Lagorai, with softer reliefs.
