In this quiet, sleepy village in the island's fertile agricultural valley, artichokes and tomatoes are grown in plots protected from the wind by tall reed thickets. Park at the entrance to Aetofolia and walk up its only main street. You'll pass a pottery museum, open randomly in July and August, but well worth a visit. Further up, the beautiful church and its pebbled square offer an enchanting shade. Opposite, there is a good tavern where you can get your fill. At Kounaria, in a quiet place, Joséphine officiates in the kitchen and concocts a tasty traditional menu in a rustic and authentic atmosphere.
