The Giv'at Yo'Av moshav was founded in the 1960s. Its name is a tribute to Colonel Yoav Shaam, killed in 1966 during the battle of Samu (Palestinian Territories). The moshav is located on the Golan Trail, which runs 120 km from Mount Hermon to the shores of Lake Tiberias, and is close to several popular tourist attractions. 10 km to the east, the Eliad moshav was founded in 1968, and named after the spy Eli Cohen, who was hanged in Syria. Originally named El Al, then Eli Al, these names can still be found on some maps. Château Golan Winery was established here in 1999 and produces wines renowned throughout the country.
