The municipality of Luceni (1 000 inhabitants) stretches over a fertile plain, bathed by the waters of the imperial canal of Aragon and the Ebro. His church of Señora Nuestra is a Gothic construction of the th century. It retains a beautiful polychrome altarpiece of the th century. On the Plaza de España, the great stone fountain is a true temptation for the thirsty pilgrim… however, the water is not safe.It was in Luceni that one of the famous episodes of Ignace's life took place: His meeting with a Moorish, which he believed had insulted the Virgin by refusing to believe in the immaculate conception of Jesus. Not knowing whether he had to avenge Mary's honour, Ignace left it to his mule to decide the question, depending on the direction she would take. Fortunately, the brave beast took the opposite path!
